Perspective

I want to be brief because this generally is not my expertise.  Everybody has an opinion, that doesn’t mean they’re right.  With the struggling economy it feels a lot like the working class (lower, middle or otherwise) against the business owners.  This has some merit but look closer and see that it’s not absolute, and it for the most part it is ’1 bad apple ruins the whole pie.’  Most of the major controversy stems from large companies and ties into banking, lending and financial institutions.  Which still doesn’t mean all of them are bad.  Moreover, many fingers point at bad investments, risky lending and chasing the Jones’.

I am in full agreement that large bonuses, paid from major government bailouts, in the wake of declining economic circumstances merits serious consequences.  However, just as lending should have been watched more closely by financial institutions, we – yes we – the Amercian public should have known our own limits as well.  We should have researched short term lending options with adjustable rates on our Mortgages.  We should have looked at buying cars that didn’t have every bell and whistle.  We even should have learned more about educational loans.

The time is now to mitigate the current scenario by learning self control and finding happiness in our current situations.  Entertainment comes in many forms, the best are probably free.  Cable TV (or Dish if you must) have gouged it’s customers and now they demand we go digital even in broadcast.  Bottom line, we don’t have to be cornered.  If we don’t buy into it they’ll listen or they’ll fail, customers are necessary for any business.

There are many people out of work at this time, I even know a few.  If we look out for each other we can help those in need.  Tighten up the belt and dump cable, and maybe an overabundant cell phone plan.  If you hold a fair amount of capital, look for business opportunities to employ those out of work.

Finally, we all look for ways to obtain items that appreciate in value.  Start by appreciating the value of what you already have.
